It was only a matter of time before flexible phones hit the scene, but it's not from who you may have thought. You most probably have not heard of Royole before; they've been working away on flexible screens since 2012! Fast forward to the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2019 and their foldable smartphone FlexPai is on show for the world and for sale.
The FlexPai has a Snapdragon 855 chipset, 6 or 8GB RAM, 128 or 256GB storage, 16MP + 20MP dual camera and runs Android 9.0 Pie.
The novelty that is FlexPai is exciting, having a smartphone and tablet all in one through a foldable screen. While impressive, there is still room for improvement. It works as you would expect in tablet mode, but you really don't know what to expect while folded and acting as a phone. Nonetheless, its great seeing advancements in this area!
